Study on DTV Affected Range Due to Coexistence of Narrowband System for DTV White Space in Korea Focused on TETRA Release 1 as Narrowband System

In this paper, we performed DTV interference test in order to measure the affected ranges of DTV service due to the operating of narrowband system as the DTV White Space Service in Korea. The Terrestrial Truncated Radio (TETRA) system was targeted as a narrowband application of DTV White Space. A series of simulations was conducted in order to estimate the effective ranges according to the operating condition and to set the test scope. For DTV service coverage, regulatory criteria in US and Korea were considered and the Trunked Mode Operation (TMO) of TETRA system was used in order to constrain the test ranges. Based on the technical guideline by the simulation results, the lab tests were conducted with the additive white noise Gaussian to cope with the general outdoor condition. In conclusion, DTV signal degradation was assessed on the basis of S ignal To Noise Ratio (S /N) and Error Vector Magnitude (EVM).
